Each of the boroughs operates a public works department that is responsible for maintaining infrastructure, roads, water mains, traffic signs, street lighting, street furniture, as well as parks and park installations. They are also responsible for waste management (garbage collection and recycling) as well as snow clearing.
In some cases, the public works department is also responsible for applying municipal by-laws. Please refer to the "Main By-laws" section for more information.
You may contact the public works department directly to let them know of any equipment that is defective or that required repairing.
For information concerning work carried out by public utilities (Hydro-Québec, Énergir and Bell) please contact the Division de la gestion des actifs of the Direction du génie.
