COVID-19: Longueuil provides further details on upcoming tax filing extensions

In an effort to better serve its citizens, the City of Longueuil has provided a few clarifications concerning its revised tax payment deadlines, which were extended by a month in an announcement made yesterday.

Revised tax bill payment deadlines

  • 2nd instalment: now Wednesday, May 6, 2020
  • 3rd instalment: now Monday, July 6, 2020
  • 4th instalment: now Tuesday, September 8, 2020

Postdated cheques already sent to the City
The City will ensure the necessary administrative coordination so that all postdated cheques in its possession are deposited a month later than the initial deadline. This is the simplest way to allow everyone to benefit from this relief measure. No further action is required from the citizens.

Automatic payments
Those who have already programmed automatic payments to the City and wish to take advantage of the new tax deadlines are encouraged to make the necessary adjustments via their online bank account.

Residents who choose to pay their tax bill through their financial institution's website must select “Ville de Longueuil” or “City of Longueuil” from the list of payees and enter the electronic payment number as it appears on their bill.

Avoid in-person payment
Given the special circumstances related to the COVID-19 outbreak, Longueuil service counters will be closed until further notice.

In light of government recommendations to minimize contact with others, residents are invited to pay their tax bill electronically.

Questions
For any other questions concerning these tax filing extensions, residents should call the Citizen Service Centre at 311 or 450-463-7311 outside Longueuil.
